Lake District Outside Adventure Wedding

March 6, 2019

…your day your way…

The wedding industry in England is rejoicing that soon you will be able to have an outside wedding. The existing regulations, which were introduced in 1836, decreed that a couple could only legally marry in a solid structure with a permanent roof. However with this  set to change, it’s hoping that you will be able to hold your wedding more or less anywhere, allowing you to have your day… very much … you way. Lake District, Northumberland, The Peaks, all our National Parks offer great backdrops for wedding, so why not just do it there.

The government is reportedly keen to investigate ways of making the legislation around wedding venues more relaxed, while still maintaining the dignity of the marriage ceremony. The move would bring laws in line with Scotland, where couples have enjoyed a greater choice of venue (including outdoor locations) for many years.

Why have I put outdoor in bold? Because you’ve guessed it, I love and search out adventurous outdoor couples and weddings.

I also here the cry of… but it rains in England, a lot! It does.

SO WHAT…

…embrace it…

You just need to think outside the box! Get wet not grumpy. Hot food tastes better when you’ve got just a tad cold. And you will remember it as the most fantastical, real, raw day!

So with typical UK weather in mind I wanted to share with you some images from an elopement shoot in the Lake District.

…one final word..

Professional photographers are able to work pretty quickly. They can see the potential in the surroundings, connect with the couple and draw out the fun really fast, so you get the most emotionally charged and purposeful images. That way you get in out the cold quick, back to your guests and eating hot food!

Whats not to like!

Clothing from Next and Monsoon and Dorothy Perkins so it doesn’t matter about the mud. And to show you that ordinary budgets can do amazing things.

Blanket from The Tarten Blanket Co

Flowers From Bluebell and Ivy in Ulverston

Thanks to Jo Greenfield Photographer for being an all round amazing friend, a total source of inspiration, and having the courage to battle the weather to arrange this awesome, fast paced, get out in the sleet, shoot.
