… no ordinary medieval wedding…
Being a wedding photographer gives me chance to visit some incredibly historic houses and castles in the UK. But Langley Castle is a true Northumbrian treat. A beast of a castle, a straight up and down fortress, with turrets, and knights in shining armour, you could be stepping onto the set of Game of Thrones. It’s a favourite spot of mine, having stayed there overnight for treats and made frequent trips just to sit in the drawing room by the fire and sup tea. Would could be more English! Claire and Ash knew that the venue would be the perfect setting for their wedding day. And I was delighted when they got in touch to be their Langley Castle Wedding photographer.
…A family history…
Claire got ready at Langley Castle, but it was important to everyone in the family that the marriage ceremony took place a Hexham Abbey. Generations of their family married there, Claire was christened there also. We met up before the wedding to chat about some key images, which reflected the family’s ties to the abbey.
…photography styles to match your wants…
My approach to wedding photography is to combine a documentary approach, with fine art. I always listen to the couple as well. Of course, they are the boss! So when more traditional shots are wanted then I am always happy to do them. Claire and Ash wanted to try and replicate the family photographs outside Hexham Abbey, so know the venue was key.
One thing is for sure about being a Langley Castle Wedding photographer, is that it gives your legs a good work out. Stairs blooming everywhere! By the time the first dance came around on the top floor I had done the stairs many times getting all my gear up! There is a lift…. somewhere. Next time I will remember to locate it!
